Is Your Computer Taking Your Breath Away?
These days, a good amount of business is conducted over the internet. So we sit in front of the computer typing our email and … holding our breath!
Nothing creates stress in the body more than holding the breath. The effects of lack of oxygen can be summarized by these two words, “ill health”. Dizziness, tiredness, stress, lack of clarity, fuzzy thinking, confusion, nausea, migraines, stiffness, aching muscles, etc. Besides the fact that as a singer, the breath is the most important component in our voices that provides the support and strength we need.
My remedy? Simple. Besides taking a deep breath every time you remember, try listening to music while you work! It is easy to lightly sing along which will keep you breathing! Or you can try listening to a breathing lesson while you email away! It works! Some of my students have recorded the breathing exercises on a loop and play them while they work on the computer.
