De-Stress Yourself! Yoga, Meditation, Bodywork, and Massage
No matter what you do to de-stress – make sure it’s part of your daily habits. And if you don’t have a daily de-stress routine, start by trying some new approaches in your own home, during your commute or in a 15 minute break. Soothe your body and mind in a few moments with some calming techniques you can use every day and your voice, your body and your spirit will thank you!
This month, I’ll be talking about all the different ways I love to use to De-Stress. And don’t we artists seriously need that, huh?!
Here are some of my favorite de-stressers – more on them as the month proceeds.
Yoga – Yoga has finally become a household word. Perhaps because it is one of the most effective forms of physical exercise that de-stresses the body and promotes the breath. In today’s harried lifestyle, this kind of practice is a godsend. There are all different styles of hatha yoga — from Ashtanga to Bikram – and you know, everyone can benefit from learning and practicing some simple poses. For the more serious yoga enthusiast, you can develop a real ‘yogi’s’ routine by doing a little of all the different approaches — Go to a “hot” yoga class and do some Bikram or check out Shannon and David Life’s Jivamukti on Lafayette in NYC.. great stuff.
Then, there’s massage and bodywork - and even self massage which you can apply when you can’t get to a professional –save time and money and even help you avoid getting sick. Don’t forget Meditation, too!
What’s your favorite de-stressers? Are they part of your daily habit? If not, now’s the time.
